Progress Report!

Breaffy National School Extension.

Our school extension programme is well underway. The block work and most of the roofing is complete on the three new classrooms. The iron trusses for the new sports hall were put in place today as can be seen from the photographs. This new sports hall will have a beech hardwood floor and a large glazed area giving lots of natural daylight. It has over 200 square meters in area. It will be suitable for basketball, volleyball and indoor football not to mention school concerts and plays.
The new extension will also have a new computer room that will be a valuable resource for our school. Our playground area will be increased by over 1,000 square metres. We will have a playground for the infants beside the new hall.
The refurbishment of our old hall and its division into resource rooms and a new staff-room is almost complete. It will be painted shortly. This hall was built with voluntary labour and donations from the school community in 1980.
