MAYO SOCCER BLITZ

NATIONAL SCHOOLS TEACHERS' AND SNAS' ASTRO TURF SOCCER BLITZ

May 11th & 12th 2012

The Mayo Soccer Blitz, run at our school, is a National Schools Teachers’
and SNAs’ Astro Turf Socccer Blitz.
It is hoped that this soccer blitz will be even more successful than last years event.
Each year a contribution of the proceeds will be made towards a chosen charity.
This year the money is going to the Down Syndrome Ireland charity.The organisers, led by Mr. Duggan, are more than grateful to all the sponsors and sincerely thank them.

Girls' Gaelic Competition

Our Girls' Gaelic Football Team recently participated in the annual inter-schools blitz. This competition took place in Breaffy Pitch. A number of local schools were involved.

Titanic Project.

To commerate the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, a lot of the classes have been doing projects on the Titanic. Here are some pictures documenting the work done in Mrs. O' Shea's 4th Class.

Nature Walks

The Senior Infant Teachers, Ms. Mannion and Ms. O' Sullivan, designed a lovely nature trail for their classes. As part of their trail the children visited Breaffy Woods and completed their Nature Trail Booklet.

School Garden Update April 2012

Now that April has arrived it is time to get back to our school garden.
6th class worked very hard planting seeds and plants. This involved a lot of digging and planting!

Annual Talent Show

As part of their annual Easter fund raising initiative our two 6th class and their teachers, Mr. Grealis and Mr. Moran organised a talent show for all the classes.

The two 6th classes also organised a jumble sale and fun day.
They raised over 3000 Euro for charity.

Greenwave Project 2012

Some of the classes are participating in this year's Greenwave Project. As part of the project pupils record daily temperatures, rainfall and wind speeds. These records are then entered on the Greenwave website as part of a national weather survey. Pupils also record sightings of tadpoles, birds, flowers.

4th Class History Projects

Mr. Glennon's 4th Class have been learning all about monasteries.

Mr. Glennon's 4th Class were very interested in teh Rugby World Cup.
The children divided into groups to study the different countries taking part in

First Day at School, Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

This year we have two Junior Infant Classes.

Darren Shan visits Castlebar Library!

 

On Thursday, September 30th, the famous author, Darren Shan visited Castlebar Library. Our 5th Class pupils were very excited about meeting one of their favourite authors. Some of the children even managed to get Darren's autograph!
