About our SchoolSt.Peter's N.S. was opened in 1890 and is situated in Snugboro, 1.5 miles from the County town of Castlebar. It began as a two teacher, two roomed school. Over the years it became overcrowded and outmoded. In 1978 a new school was planned for this fast developing area. The new school was officially opened in January 1987 by the then Junior Minister for Education, Mr. Enda Kenny. The new school was erected approximately 500 metres away from the original building. The school continued to grow in the '80s and '90s until it reached its present full capacity.
We now have 14 teachers affiliated to the school - this number includes :-
- An Administrative Principal
- 9 Classroom Teachers
- 2 Resource Teachers
- A Learning Support Teacher
- A Teacher for Travellers
