MAYO

We are so excited about Christmas. We have already written lots of stories and poems about it.

On the 19th of December we are going with the boys from Mrs Henehan's first class and all the boys from both the second classes to see the Santa Claus 3; The Escape Claus.

Friday 24th of November was 'Low Energy Day' in the school. Apart from light & heat (necessary in November!!!), we were not permitted to use any energy at all - no computers, no T.V.s, no CD players no photocopying etc.
We talked about saving energy in school and at home then we wrote some poems to tell others about energy.

On Friday 27th October we had a Halloween party with fruits, treats and barm brack(Jack Jensen got the ring!!! ) We all dressed up in our Halloween costumes. We even frightened each other!!!! There are lots of pictures of us in our picture gallery.

Shoe Box Appeal.
In early November we watched a DVD about the shoe box appeal (Opperation Christmas Child.) Afterwards we talked about what to put into the shoe boxes for boys or girls aged from 2 up to 12 years. We brought pur shoe boxes into school all wrapped up. A total of 240 shoeboxes were collected which will be sent to children in Armenia in time for Christmas.

Well done to Stephen Martin, Padraic Waldron and Tony Crowley who all won prizes in the Credit Union Poster competition. We all drew pictures for the theme "Credit Union; A World of Difference".

Hurling in First Class

In October we started hurling. We go every Wednesday in two groups with Ger Whyte our hurling coach. Yesterday we learned the jab-lift and the roll-lift. We hope to play big matches soon.
We have lots of fun hurling and Ms Naughton says that if we keep practising we will have a hurling blitz at the end of the year.

On Fridays we go out to the new playground on the Junior yard. We decided that our favourite thing in the playground is the spinning wheel. It goes so fast.

Mayo Day

On the Friday before Mayo took part in the All-Ireland Final against Kerry the whole school dressed up in their red and green. We had flags, banners and horns too. We went in a parade around the town. TV3 visited our school too and filmed us outside in the yard. There are lots of pictures of the day.
