I have no problem with what has been proposed in the budget. I don't see why married women, whether they have children or not, should be treated as chattles of their husbands. All individuals should be entitled to their own Tax Credits as individuals.
We do have a problem in the economy, more jobs are available than we have people to fill them. If this proposal ensures that more people become available for work then that is good.
The issue of child care (or the lack of it) is another problem. Very few Irish employers provide child care for workers. That is because their is no culture of employers providing child care, and also because they are too mean to do so.
I don't see whay all the blame should be shifted to the government on this one.
