It depends on how you define 'not contributing'. I don't agree with your definition.
My view is that we should work to live, i.e. to create a good standard of living for ourselves. People contribute to society in various ways, not all can be measured by the amount of tax paid to the government. The proposals by the government seek to deny the non taxable contribution.
I think the measures proposed in the budget are going in the direction of making us a society that lives to work, more consumerist, selfish and inward looking.
Maybe we should look towards the Scandinavian model, look at the amount of paternity/maternity leave they give. Certainly they seem to place more priority on the welfare of their children.
I don't know anything about the FF, FG strategy you're on about. Maybe you could explain.
