Strictly speaking the counter records 'visitors' to the bulletin board. If you do a 'hard reload' - refresh or F5 (IE Explorer) or shift-reload (Netscape) the counter increments. The number of 'hits' is significantly greater as most 'visitors' look at quite a few pages when visiting. The true number of visitors is less because people tend to come back a number of times each day. Today, for example, our log files show that we have had a total of 4250 'hits' to the bulletin board alone with 121 separate visitors and 28 'posters' - this corresponded to a counter increment of about 600.
