I take your point on Ennis and the free computers db and yes I suspect that the people of Castlebar (or anywhere) would have most probably been the same. It's human nature after all.

I do find it frustrating or irritating though sometimes about the the warieness of people in embrasing innovation and surely that should have been one of the main criteria over two years ago in selecting an Information age town and I am very cynical about the degree to which the people of Ennis are wholeheartedly embracing this experiment (which is also, or was I understood?, planned as a learning precident for all other towns in Ireland to follow so that the information town could show what could be done or achieved). Not that I would suggest or expect that Castlebar might have done it better. Even in Castlebar it is still predominantly a relatively small dedicated core of people embracing the possibilities. What happened to all the wonderfully laid plans and projections for Ennis of two years ago. Even today ya can't even make an on-line purchace from ONE of Ennis's retailers, in fact sad to say even simple e-mail addresses are sadly lacking in the Business Directory.

I just feel that in two years considerably more progress should have been made ( I was at a conference a couple of months ago where a speaker said in Internet terms 5 weeks is the equivilant of one year, And that's a conservative estimate. If that's the case Ennis is moving at a very slow snails pace) and that's not truly motivated by sour grapes or animosity towards Ennis- I just think they're doing a pathetic job of leading by example which is what I thought the whole idea of this experiment was supposed to be. Any comments anyone? (Especialy anyone from Ennis - They don't even appear to answer e-mails!)
