In the Paris Dakaar Rally there is a time trial involving the paired drivers of each car. The object of the time trial is for the second driver driving the exact same course as the first, to aim to cover the course in as close as possible the time of the first driver. There is no clock in the car and the driver isn't allowed a time piece (watch). How can the second driver ensure that they get as close to the time of the other driver in these circumstances.
