Very good M OT - As someone said, it shows how deceptive statistics can be. With cloth helmets if someone got hit on the head with shrapnel they were most likely killed outright (and there wasn't much point in admitting them to hospital with that degree of head injuries) whereas when the steel helmets were introduced more of them survived (long enough to be taken to hospital anyway!!!)
