Man on Wire is a 2008 documentary film directed by James Marsh. The film follows Philippe Petit's 1974 high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York's World Trade Center.  The film will be shown in the Westport Cineplex on Wednesday 5th November at 8:45pm.  Our season has just started so anyone interested in joining the film club should come down to the Cinema and sign up. It costs €25 for yearly membership which allows you and a friend tickets for only €5 for each showing on the first Wednesday of every month.  Non members are more than welcome too and pay €10 per film.  This month's film Man on a Wire has received much critical acclaim and is sure to rivet the audience.

It competed in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize: World Cinema Documentary and the World Cinema Audience Award: Documentary.  Man on Wire has won the prestigious Special Jury Award and Audience Award at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, the International Audience Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Standard Life Audience Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Critics received the film with much praise, with film review website Rotten Tomatoes reporting that 100% of the 125 reviews they have collected have been positive.
