Castlebar Mitchels Hurling and Camogie Club Notes

Now that Spring is in the air, it’s time to dust down the boots and polish up the camán and take on the challenge of Cúchulainn with another burst of Iománíaocht.

The foundation level Hurling/Camogie course commenced last Saturday in An Sportlann. There is still time to get involved and those interested should contact Fr Mike Murphy at 21844 or Gerry Lane.

Hopefully this will continue each Sat at 10 am in An Sportlann and is a wonderful opportunity to brush up not only on the skills of the modern game but also the vernacular.

U14 Hurling training takes place each Sun morning on Celtic Astro Pitch from 11am to 12 noon, whilst U16 training takes place also on Sun mornings from 12 noon to 1 pm. Players should check with Coach Stephen McKeogh as to the venue this week.

The U8, 10 and 12 training will commence on Wed 9 Apr in McHale Park with a special registration day fixed for Sat 5 Apr from 3pm to 5 pm in An Sportlann

1. Which County defeated Galway to win the 2000 under 21 hurling final?

2. Who captained Galway to their last senior hurling title in 1988?

3. Kilkenny scored five goals in the 2000 senior hurling final. Which was the last county to achieve such a feat.

National Hurling League 2003

Best of luck to the Mayo team as they begin their quest for honours in Div 3 of the NHL next Sunday against Leitrim.
