The Lotto is a major source of finance and allows the club to proceed with many of its projects.  Your very valuable and assistance is always required.  Even if you cannot sell tickets, please come along and support the Draw each Sun night in a licensed premise near you.

Social Committee  The club had a very enjoyable weekend in Ennis recently. The stories are tame at the moment but we are working on extracting the real truth in the near future. Thanks to Mark Deeley, Mary Coy, Kathleen Duane and Bennie Greaney for all the organising

Special Olympics Western Care The proceeds from the club lotto on St Pats weekend will be donated to Western Care Special Olympics.

As this is a very worthy cause, we ask as many people as possible to get involved and sell tickets over the weekend.  Ray Coy will only be delighted to make your acquaintance and even more delighted when you sell more that your quota.

Presentation Night On Sunday night Mar 23 at 9.30 pm in the Sportlann there will be a hurling/camogie club presentation night.  The cheque from the previous weekend will be presented to Western Care Special Olympics and coaching certificates will be presented to the 28 people who have completed foundation level courses.  As usual there will be music, craic and who knows even twinkle toes might show off his style once again.  Beidh scealta a ra ag gach einne.

Coaching Courses A Level One Hurling/Camogie Coaching Course will be taking place in An Sportlann starting on Thu Mar 27.  Anyone interested in taking the course should contact Fr Michael Murphy at 21844.  In order to assist the club in its on field targets it is necessary and vital to have as many qualified coaches as possible.

Hurling on the Green The Hurling on the Green concept will be returning at Easter to be followed later in the year during the Summer.  Watch this space for further details.

U14s and 16s are currently in training both in the Celtic Astro Turf on Sunday mornings and in an Sportlann

Minor hurling training will commence next Sunday at 3 pm in An Sportlann.  All potentail minors are asked to attend as indeed are any of the seniors who wish to break out from the winter doldrums.

Co Championship commences with an away game v Westport on 5 Jul and further games to be played on 20 Jul, 4 Aug 10 Aug and 23 Aug

Camogie The team has registered to play in the Galway league and is currently in busy preparations.  Training takes place as follows Sun 4 pm to 6 pm in An Sportlann and on Mon in the Castle Fitness centre from 6.30 to 7.30.  Serious efforts are being made in other parts of the county to organize teams so that Mayo can have its own league in the future.  Already there are 35 registered players, so any girls wishing to take up camogie then do come along to any of the training sessions and you will be most welcome.

The trip to Ballyduff was exciting and indeed the full story will be told shortly.  Although Mitchels won the game by 3-2 to 1-7, there was considerable competition in the game.  Team Capt Lily Whelan was very active throughout whilst goalkeeper Audrey Flynn used all parts of her body to keep the margin to a goal.  Meadhb Murphy was in goal scoring form the girls and it was the great team spirit saw the Castlebar Girls triumph.  Coach Kevin O Connor and selectors Mick  Fahey, John Durkin will be well pleased with this outing
