HAPPY
ST. PATRICK’S DAY
5th
Sunday of Lent
Today’s liturgy offers us an opportunity
to examine our life of faith. Does
our faith merely consist of a Christian name, attending Sunday Mass, and
reciting a few prayers? Does our
faith flow from our deep conviction that God loved us first and we belong to
him? Does it help us see the new life
emerging in the midst of darkness and confusion?
Jesus asks us too “Do you believe this?”
Do you believe that your present condition of life, your sufferings and
sickness, your limitations and weaknesses, your failures and fatigue, is not the
last word? Do you believe that even
when everything seems to go wrong, it can become right? This challenges us to enter into a deep
relationship with Jesus and entrust our life to him - and to him alone. Believing in Jesus’ power means
participation in his life giving mission.
When I help some one to get out of their misery, I give witness to the
life giving power of Jesus.
In the Eucharist, we again hear whoever
“eats this bread will live forever”.
May this communion with him make us pass from death to life,
sinfulness to sanctity, brokenness to wholeness and thus renew the whole
earth. Amen.
