I will sing forever of your love, O Lord.

We live in a world where rapid change has undermined the foundations of stability.  People change jobs, addresses and partners.  Professional footballers are more loyal to their bank account than to their club.  People are loath to make a commitment forever, fearful of closing the door on alternative possibilities.  They doubt if anybody can say ‘forever’.

Yet, foreverness is a characteristic of love in God’s vocabulary.

            Your love lasts forever.

Your truth is firmly established as the heavens.

Jesus spoke of building the house of life on solid rock.  His ideals and principles are valid for ages.  Today’s gospel is about making a firm option to follow Jesus.  Fidelity is the foundation of stability and the source of happiness.

Our psalm celebrates the happiness of those who walk in the light of God’s face: they find joy every day in God’s holy name: and God’s justice is the source of their bliss.

NOTICES

BOOKED MASSES 2003

(JANUARY 2003 - DECEMBER 2003)

The book for 2003 Mass will be opened from Monday 1st July.  We are asking you once again to include all the deceased members of family in ONE announced Mass each year.  Every Mass is offered for all people living and dead.  So what is important is that you join personally in offering Mass for your own deceased on the particular dates you wish to remember them.  Mass for the deceased is not  confined to the day of the announced Mass.  No Mass stipends will be taken on the day of booking.  Stipends to be given to the priest who offers the Mass.

We ask people to be considerate to staff and to other people booking Masses.

Priests’ Collection - The Priests’ Collection will be taken up at all Masses this weekend.  We would ask all wage earners to contribute and thank you for your continued support and generosity.
