In recent years it has fallen out of favour to some extent. People rightly point out there are many other forms of prayer. However the Rosary is still relevant for our times. It is a prayer that can be said anywhere and by anyone. People can join us, including young children. It includes our two greatest prayers the Our Father and the Hail Mary. Has any other form of prayer replaced the Rosary as a family prayer? In a great many cases the answer is no. Grace before meals, a decade of the Rosary, would be some sign of faith, a prayer in any home, and it would not take long. In this year of the Rosary Pope John Paul II has added five extra mysteries to the Rosary - the mysteries of light. As he says himself they are to flesh out the life of Jesus as expressed in the Rosary. From childhood to the passion there was a gap in the story of Christ’s life. So now we have 5 mysteries of his public life to meditate on. They are the Baptism in the Jordan, the wedding at Cana, the proclamation of the kingdom (call to conversion), the transfiguration and the Eucharist.	Email the Presbytery Priest on Call: Fr. Ml.
