This is the feast day that we celebrate today - Corpus Christi -  which means the Body of Christ.  The real presence of Christ in the Blessed Eucharist is clearly put before us today.  Maybe we don’t always appreciate the greatness of what we do when we celebrate the Eucharist and how near and close Christ is to each one of us.  Christ himself is in our midst.  We all gather round him.  As we gather round him he nourishes us in so many ways.  The food that he gives us his people is the food of eternal life.  That food is himself.  “I am the Bread of life that has come down from heaven”.  Filled with this food we can cross whatever troubles may confront us and make our way to the promised land of eternal life.  Here in the real presence of the Eucharist, Christ heals us for we are all deeply wounded.  We are healed of our selfishness and indifference to the needs of others.  Love and compassion fills our hearts.
