He has come to bring people back from the wrong paths to the reign of God. Repent and believe the Good News. The accompanying psalm is a prayer of dedication to God’s ways. Lord, make me know your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Jesus calls the fishermen to leave their boats and to follow him. To become a disciple demands more that subscribing to a set of doctrines or moral principles. To believe means, above all, to give one’s heart to the Lord in a personal relationship. It means to walk the road of life in the company of the Lord. Lord, make me know your truth and teach me; for you are God my saviour. The psalmist calls on God to remember his mercy, love and goodness. People who are humble enough to know their spiritual poverty will always seek to know his ways and to walk in his presence. (Fr.
