'Thought for Sunday' Notices Mass Intentions Altar Society Eucharistic Ministers Rest in Peace Lay Readers Previous Newsletters	Isaiah’s Vision “…they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” These lines, taken from today’s first reading, are inscribed on stone outside the headquarters of the United Nations in New York. Isaiah’s vision, conceived six centuries before the birth of Christ, formed part of the vision which inspired the establishment of the United Nations in 1945. Isaiah’s dream is one of harmony among nations in which the resources invested in the science and instruments of war might one day be invested in development and the provision of food. Humankind’s inability to realize this vision of Isaiah does not render it redundant. A public meeting will be held in the Welcome Inn on Mon. Dec. 3^rd at 8p.m. This is an opportunity to become involved in this sporting occasion. Mayo Historical & Archaeological Soc.
