Centenary of the Church of the Holy Rosary

As you know the Church of the Holy Rosary first opened on the 7th October 1901.  So far our centenary celebrations are going very well. Our Novena is being attended by large crowds and the whole event is uplifting and inspirational and very prayerful.  The launch of the book on the history of the parish went very well on Wednesday night.

This Sunday at the 11a.m. Mass, the parish choir will sing the centenary Mass composed by Sr. Margo.  After that Mass the new mosaic on the front of the Church will be blessed and the artist Walter Michel will be present.

The final thanksgiving Mass of the centenary will take place at 6p.m. on Sunday evening with Archbishop Neary as the chief celebrant.  Everyone is welcome to this Mass and to the social evening afterwards in the Travellers Friend Hotel.

NOTICES

"Through Fagan’s Gates”

The title of the book on the history of the Parish is a catching

one.  Fagan’s Gates were originally around the baptismal

font in the north porch of the Church, so everyone being baptised was carried through these gates.    The launch of the book on Wednesday night in the Welcome Inn went very well.  Tom Higgins has put a tremendous amount of research and hard work into this book and it is very interesting and well worth having.  We thank Tom and all who helped in any way with the book, the Welcome Inn who hosted the event, and all who came to support the launch.

The book will be on sale at the back of the Church for the rest of the Novena and in the Travellers Friend Hotel on Sunday night.  We are very grateful to all who are helping in selling the book.

Tom Higgins will sign copies of the book at the Travellers Friend Hotel on Sunday night.
