4th Sunday of Advent

The theme of today’s Eucharist invites us to trust God in everything, in his providence, even when we do not understand the course of life’s events.  Such abandonment before God, brings fulfilment and joy into one’s life.  If we live a life based on worldly promises and security, a life that is dictated by the standards of the world, we will soon experience dissatisfaction and emptiness.  As we have already reached the last Sunday of Advent let us ask ourselves whether we are prepared to surrender ourselves to a God who comes, a God who promises to be with us always.  Let us ask the Lord’s pardon in all humility and beg of him to renew us, so that we may not only worthily celebrate today’s Eucharist, but also joyously await the coming of the Lord who is Emmanuel.
