Persistent prayer allows the laser beam of the Spirit to gradually remove the cataract from the eyes of our hearts.  Only with the heart can we see rightly that our deepest selfless wills long for God’s will, and his Kingdom.  Sometimes, blinded by the glaucoma of sin, we fail to see that every prayer is answered - in tune with God’s will.

‘I have no time to sharpen it!’  said the workman, as he frantically kept on earning his ‘daily bread’  by hacking wood with a blunt axe.  When we give God our time, he sharpens our focus to generously respond to him and to others.

The prayerful person is like an egg being hatched under the warm wings of the hen.  Life gradually grows within it, until one day it is all life and the shell falls away!  Likewise, in prayer we place ourselves under the warm wings of God, our Father, who grants us an increase of his Spirit until we are ‘all life’ and the shells of our sins fall away.

Basic to the Lord’s Prayer, and to life, is our forgiveness of others - from the heart and without exception.  It is vital to our health at every level.  When we forgive others, God kisses our sins into everlasting forgetfulness - and bestows on us all the blessings we need!
