Beech trees showing their first flush of fresh green foliage - early May 2001. A lot of the more mature trees are over 200 years old - unfortunately coming to the end of their lives. Many were planted around the big estates with the help of grants from the Royal Dublin Society - so grants for forestry are not a new thing! |
