The band in the Parade is the local High school band. The bagpipers are a firefighters band from Fairfax, VA. The green haired girls just having some fun. The Harley's and the Davidsons were there (motor cycles) and St Patrick of course.

We started off the weekend by attending "Aifreann as Gaelge" at the Cathedral of St Thomas More in Arlington, VA. Fr. Gerald Creedon, a Cork native, said the 21st Annual Mass in Irish. A social hour held afterwards included some Irish dancing. Lent was very much in evidence still in the Cathredal. The St. Patrick's Day Parade in Manassas, VA was small but fun. Where they didn't have large floats or the big bands, they made up for in hometown spirit. We repaired later to our Y2K Pub (no name) in Vienna, VA and went native with Corned Beef and Cabbage (simmered in Guinness) Delicious! Brown Soda Bread, Leek and Potato Soup, Turnips and Carrots and Potatoes. The Guinness was in cans, the Harp in bottles.Juice,Tea and water for the teetotalers. This pub has the green, white and gold Tricolor on the wall, a dartboard and even a picture of Johnny's pub in Castlebar! Every copy of the Quiet Man was rented from here to Washington so instead we listened to Black 47, Enya, Saw Doctors, Cranberries, Sinead O'Connor, Corrs, U2, Music from Lord of the Dance, Danny Doyle. I slipped in few Danny Boys and Galway Bays, after all we have to get a little misty eyed on St. Patrick's Day if you are an exile! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend too!
