I seem to remember a radio signal beep, beep, beep that could be picked up if you knew the frequency? The evening papers had very precise times when you could see it passing overhead. I like the idea of controlling our street lighting too. I was able to photograph Halley's Comet back in early 1986 from just outside Castlebar. It was very faint and it needed a few photographs taken a few days apart to definitely show it moving. I doubt that I would be as successful today due to that blasted orange glow from the street lights. Also it's unbelievable the number of houses that have garden lighting even well after midnight!
