The song Speed Your Journey (Nabucco) was performed by the Church choir, then an all-male choir, at a concert in the Town Hall organised by Fr Tom Shannon sometime around 1957. I was a choir boy at the time and remember the song very well. The accordionist Paul Brock also performed that night. I can also remember that several songs of Stephen Foster were sung in a part of the programme called Down in the Plantation!Another medley included some cowboy songs - There's a Bridle Hanging On The Wall, Give Me My Ranch And My Cattle etc. I'm sure there are many of the stars of that show still around who could fill you in on the contents of that memorable concert.
