Its been 40 years.As we get older there will be fewer people who remember.Some of the Doctors I work with were not even born yet.Me....I was watching TV when Charles Mitchell made the announcement.The next day I was in the County Hospital,Castlebar(as it was known then)having my appendix removed by surgeon Mr Bresnihan so I dont remember a whole lot about the events other than what I read and saw on TV later.I think it was just as devastating for us in Ireland as it was for Americans or indeed for people anywhere around the world.Maybe even more, as he was one of our own.
