Viv Plunkett was a contemporary of mine. Her father was Bruce and they were natives of Bray, Co wicklow. The old man was Frank Beckett and I think he was Bruce`s uncle.The becketts were a very old Castlebar family.
John Dever has returned west and is the owner of Healy`s Hotel in Pontoon.
Do you remember Teddy Bourke who ran the bicycle shop. A thin moustached chainsmoker. He lived overhead with the sisters.
There was at least one other premises between Beckett`s and Bourkes. It used to be a butchers at some stage. They were another Bourke family and the last survivor was an old lady - Maggie Bourke.
