Eamonn lived in Spencer St.I dont recollect any connection with Ger Healy and the Kenny's.Ger had a brother Charlie,a very nice young man who rode a motor scooter.
I'm sure all teachers would have wonderful stories to tell about their experiences over the years and their pupils.I was on the other side in 1966/67 when I filled in for a teacher in a National school near Parke after I had finished the Leaving and was waiting to go off to Dublin to do nursing. It was a very short time but the memory of it is very vivid. From the drive in the morning with the school Master from Castlebar,to sharing his pheasant sandwiches, the little 4-5 year old boy who came in so excited one day, telling me about the "dyer tiger" he saw on television.(It was a dinosaur),the day I opened the drawer to get the tea and sugar out, when out popped a mouse, the excitement when the Master gathered the male members of the school in the room and asked the female members to leave while they got on with the manly work of catching that poor unfortunate little mouse.
We may have had some bad experiences in school but we have a lot to thank our teachers for.
