Now back to Brady's steps. I remember when Parsons took over and Brady's were selling off all the goods on display. Quite a lot of the youngsters around town sudenly began to sport bowler hats. It was such a sight. Seemingly, Martin Brady had found a quantity in the store, and some of the kids were in the shop and bought a few for very little. I guess the others were probably too quick on their feet for Martin, because I know a lot of the boys "acquired" them rapidly. I don't recall any photographs being taken of the lads playing football on the Mall with their bowler hats. What a pity, as they would be nice to look at now!
As another contributor remarked, no child ever passed Brady's steps without climbing them.
