Never got in the front door either,we were in
the kitchen if at all.
As for escapades on the river,we never got near
Durcans boat but during the Moy Drainage the
water was dammed at the lake leaving just a
trickle of water in the river bed.A track for
open wagons was laid and when the workmen finished
for the day we used the travel up and down from
Mulloys to Lavelles in the open wagons.
Around 7 in the evening Pa Cunningham would
release the sluice so we had to be on our guard
to be out of the river and up the steep banks
before we drowned.
Pa was aware of our prescence and used to call
by to warn us of the deluge that was to arrive.
Needless to say nobody ever seemed to get hurt.
