In the late 50's,early 60's the first house was Gavin and wherein lived, Pa, along with Johnny and Alice Rodgers, the parents of Shane, Alish and Michael.Next to them was a little pub known as The Mall Bar (I think), this was before Berney O'Reilly built the Green Olive. That small bar was owned by an elderly couple called Gilligans, who later moved to live on Gallows Hill.
Next were the Munnelly family and then an Aunt of theirs. Then a small greengrocers shop. later a butcher in a place owned by Tommy Gilboy of the Westport Road, then Kings pub. Then Byrnes and Nan Sweeney's.
Next came Redmond's / Burke's cafe, followed by Billy Bourke the Dentist, then a pub followed by Golden's shop, then a private house, then Lyons's, private house, Campbells photography (can't recall who the occupants were before them)the the famous garage run by the Downes family. There was something in between the garage and Julie Heneghans toy shop, then Horkans, then Tobins and Smith's garage.
Can somebody please fill in the doubts for me please and take it further along?
