I`d say you are right there Max, from down the Turlough Rd. direction! There were female prisoners under the care of a matron and an assistant.
You may also be interested to know that there is a reference to an ancient burial place at the head of Lough Lanark (sic) and on the other side of the lake are the ruins of a fortified residence.
I don`t think this ruin is the same as the one that exists today near the point as this is on the same side as the burial ground.
