Jean, See "Ernie O Malley: IRA Intellecrual" by Richard English. Amazon are flogging 3 used copies for $7.98 or spanking new for $19.95.
An editorial review says Ernie (1897-1957) was one of the most talented and colourful Irish Republicans and played a leading part in the 1916-1923 Revolution and was a contemporary of Collins and Dev.
I might be wrong but I think he flew the State after Independence, but there is a Castlebar connection. Maybe Murrisk can help here. I can`t recall his name from school books o history.
Oh Tempus might recall - he was v.g. at history.
And Tempus, I hope you are`nt going to start correcting spellings. I`d say you have poor Spiceloft embarrassed.
