That's right JDP and do you remember when Paddy Mellett tok a court action against the UDC because they allowed the carnival on the Mall one year? The Perks came from Youghal as far as I know and they had such great amusements with the bid raffle on the Sunday night...and one of the nights was designated Farmers night. Can you remember the names of the Perks, the son was called John L and his sister was called ??
I still have a picture of MacDara O'Dwyer from Station Road, now a bank manager in Dundrum, Dublin, as he collected the money on the Noah's Ark! The carnival was held in Market Square a few times too.
