In our house it was a "Gugug" and of course soldiers for dipping into the soft rich yolk. My mother still gets fresh eggs from Snugboro every week.
In the early 60s I helped out on my uncles travelling shop in the summer. Many of the customers in the country part paid for their groceries with fresh eggs and country butter. The travelling shop was a major weekly event for many in the country, particularly older people.
