Could the "something in Brazil" have to do with
the great train robber who escaped to Brazil
via France after a daring escape from Wormsworth
Scrub prison. I think that happened around 1967.
Other TV shows from that time were Startrek, The
Man for U.N.C.L.E., and the Monkeys. I think
Halls Pictorial Weekly (& the Minister for Hardship)
was getting underway around that time too.
Planxty was in full swing on the Irish music
scene - the best group by far. Larry Cunningham
was big on the C&W scene. Credence Clearwater
Revival was turning out the hits. The TF was
the venue of choice on a Sunday night - 7 shillings
and 6 pence rising through the years to 10 bob
to get in. Paddy Cannon and Frank ???? at the
door. Inside to the right, the soft drinks &
coffee area. Further along on the right a seating
area. Opposite - the girls/ladies and a few
seated couples. The iron bars to keep the ladies
from being crushed when the lads had to "anchor
offshore and wave at the maiden of choice".
Sometimes she responded - often she merely
turned a distainful eye on the hopeful partner.
