Anyone recall the little booklet that was put through every letterbox in the country back in the early 60s.( post Cuban missile crisis) I was reminded of this by a caller to a radio show this a.m. The image I recall was a drawing of a kitchen table pushed aginst a wall with a kind of tablecloth awning stretching down to the floor to give more floor space for the family that had to stay under it for three days. The caller said there were instructions to farmers on how to wash down a cow before her first milking after fallout. !
I also recall that Bro. Vincent was the local Scientific Officer of the Civil Defence Unit, probably because at that time he was the physics teacher in St. Gerald`s and one of the few around with a B.Sc. No doubt Vincent ( sound man by the way), being the wise aodhán that he was, knew what a load of baloney all this advice was, would in the event of fallout, have set up H.Q. in Lally`s ( Linenhall St.) and gone to his maker with a wet whistle and a smile on his face!
