Jack was cared for in recent years by his kindly neighbour, Bridie Scriney. A couple of years ago a bout of illness necessitated Jack spending a few days at the hospital.
Bridie called the hospital on the first night enquiring about Jack, only to be told that no one called Jack Elliot had been admitted that day. " but I was there when the ambulance took him to the hospital" explained Bridie. Innocently the nurse explained that the only person admitted that day from Spencer St. was Kit Carson !
