Jack Elliott from Spencer Street has died. His remains go to the church this evening.
He was quite a character, and the stories are legendendary and grew with the years! A small one.....one year at midnight mass Fr. Ludden was the celebrant and had welcomed everybody to the celebration of the mass, a terrific occasion in the church year, the birth of Jesus, a time for reverence and reflection, a time to take stock of our own lives etc.... and a voice was heard from the midst of the crowd, right out of a scene from a John Wayne movie....."cut the comedy and get on with the show!!
Jack had a remark and comment for every occasion and generally very witty. Perhaps the wit and wisdom from Spiceloft would be able to regale us with further gems? May Jack rest in peace.
