Took a stroll up the lake yesterday and it is really a place which could be developed as a terrific amenity for the town, with walks, picnic areas, a marina perhaps. Lots of good work has been done over the years with lighting and paths, and there's lots more to do. The diving board is gone now of course, but the place looks very well. This proposal for housing has me flumoxed! The hill on the Newport Road side looks magnificent, as it sweeps down to the water's edge, and I can't see the powers that be permitting housing there. If they put a new wooden bridge across from the Westport Rd. side to the hill, it would make it a very pleasant area and make it even more attractive as a leisure area.
