i imagine the eggs were stored in waterglass from the summer when they were surplus until christmas when they were used for cakes and cooking and that would havebeen pre ww2 when our eggs were not exportable however after that eggs became a vhery important commodity in this country they were the equivalent of a salary to farm families as they were bartered for the household requirements in the shops and travelling shops where they were sold by the score from the basket
