After a great deal of chin stroking, head scratching and consultations by locals in a particular age group, the mystery man ( from the Jacko snap) has been identified as Pat Doyle who was an assistant manager in the Bank of Ireland. Shane Rogers put the name to the face, with input from John Durcan and Leo Shaughnessy.
Tempus can recall Mr. Doyle now and tells me that during that long strike by bank clerks in the mid 60s, both Doyle and another bankman named Ian Barrett ran a successful painting business in the town.
Now thats an event that should throw up a few good stories - the long bank strike !
