Yes I remember Paddy Doyle in the Bank of Ireland, beside the Imperial Hotel. Paddy used to drive a lovely green and white Riley Elf, very like a mini car. There were only 2 of them in town at the time, the other one was owned by Richard Sweeney in Ballyheane and was a rich wine colour. Richard had a good business selling the "pools" at the time. Remember the pools?
During the Bank strike, Paddy Doyle teamed up with Ian Barrett from AIB (or maybe it was still called the Munster & Leinster bank), and started a house painting business. They got plenty of work, much to the annoyance of local painters at the time. After the strike, Paddy later got promotion to Carrick on Shannon as Manager.
