Remember Bro. Felan JDP, he was from Leitrim and indeed a sound man. Don't remember the incident you mentioned but isn't it hard to explain to parents and kids and indeed teachers nowadays that there were about 60 pupils in the class at that time? Current class numbers are probably 25 max. but we managed and didn't kill each other too often.
I recall one morning in the same class when the guy I was sharing the desk with opened his sums copy ( there were no maths in those days only sums!)and there were paw marks all over the pages.
My friend explained how the cat had been outside in the rain and had come into the kitchen and walked all over the copy.....it was such a mess...but this guy always got the sums right no matter what!
