The O.S. shows two crannógs at Saleen. On close examination one is shown just off waters edge very close to the railway line, the other kissing the shoreline close to the Ballyhean Rd. ( N84) So the red dots on the " ups and downs" map appear to be misplotted.
There is one crannóg shown beside Lough Lannagh but it is out at Annagh. There is a similar red dot shown on the land between the cemetery and the access rd. to Lough Lannagh Village and approx. mid way between the new road and the lake. What antiquity might this denote ?
There is a red circle(not dot) shown on the lake shore on the Blackfort side approx. mid way between the cut and the point. This is the symbol for an "enclosure eg. ringfort". I remember the ringfort but as being some way in from the waters edge.
No antiquity shown anywhere adjacent to the Westport Rd.
