I will never go to the library again in the middle of the day in the middle of a hot summer. It was like a summer camp.Murrisk you would have called in reinforcements!
Anyway Kathleen,I may have solved the riddle.I believe first of all that the word is Eadargabail, with dots over the b and g making them silent. In todays written Irish an h after the two letters would make them silent too.Its a d rather than an s.Addergoole,Adragool,Adrigole,Adrigoole are various ways I have seen it spelled.Eadar-dha-ghabhail.A place between two (river)forks.I have been facinated by this name Addergoole since I read of the Titanic connection.I am familiar with Lahardan but not Addergoole.Visually it does not look very Irish. So many of our place names have been anglicised so badly that its hard to connect the english with the irish name.
