Actually I think it was one of James first entreprises, the setting up of the dancehall to raise funds, before he got more ambitious and got to Knock and started building an International airport. In terms of whether it's still in use however - I think it went into decline like so many other dancehalls (Pontoon, Frenchhill, Ballycroy) in parallell with the showband craze in the early 1970's and for a time in the 80's and 90's housed a joinery and woodwork business but I do seem to recall reading quite recently about a Ballrooom of Romance reunion dance there some time in the last few months.
