The FCA provided 'radio' support when cart races were held in town in the early 1960's. One operator at the convent, one at JB's corner, one at O'Brien's steps and another on the mall. In this way each operator had a line of sight to another. These were not cel phones but big, heavy back-pack units. I remember being drafted for service at the convent.
