Does anyone remember sometime in the late seventies- early eighties, Castle street being closed to pedestrians and traffic for some reason. Was only in National school then but seem to remember some photos in the paper (maybe I am mistaken) of some kids climbing the barrier that was place at the main street end of Castle street. Was it closed due to strustural problems with two old buildings at the top of the street which were later knocked and rebuilt to house the jewellery shop that is presently there?
